Via son Freedom Forum animé par d’anciens dirigeants du groupe et qui organise rencontres et débats, Gannett n’a pas oublié non plus de s’intéresser à la dimension théorique du travail de presse.

Gannett has indirectly had a hand in developing the theoretical side of the business as well : Neuharth is founder of the Freedom Forum, which sponsors panel discussions and publishes the Media Studies Journal.
